Hailing from Belgaum, a city in north Karnataka, Somashekhar has completed his Master’s in Social Work from Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore. He has also dabbled in journalism and design courses to enhance his skills.
Having over 10 years of experience working with Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and Dalit youth through different organisations, Somashekhar brings a nuanced understanding of societal structures and their intersectionalities to Samvada. He works as the Advocacy Action facilitator at Samvada and enjoys working on constitutional values with young people from different backgrounds.
When he is not exploring and unpacking complex realities around caste, class, and gender with youth, Somashekhar spends his time reading books, writing articles and meeting people in new places. He imagines a new form of India where equality and prosperity prevail at every level.
