Dilshad Sutar
Youth Mentor, Youth Resource Centre, Kalaburagi

Dilshad comes from the Belgavi district of Karnataka. She had to start working very early on to fund her education and has an experience of 8+ years in the field of social work. While working part-time for a non-profit, Jagruthi which works in the field of education, she was able to understand gaps in the system. Her dream is to one day be involved in policy-making that will positively impact the education sector.

Over the years she has worked on surveying school dropouts, social security for pregnant women and mothers, campaigning for child rights, successfully building awareness on voting rights, health and against domestic violence. Dilshad has also been a part of successful campaigns around themes like child marriage, violence against women, organic farming among others. She is confident that she can direct and organize street plays on socially relevant issues. Apart from street plays, Dilshad is fond of mono-acting, dance, singing and learning songs (especially those by Kabir), reading and writing.

Dilshad has completed MSW in Community Development from Rani Chennamma University Belgaum, Karnataka in 2018. She is an alumnus of the leadership programme conducted by Disom Foundation, has completed the youth work course conducted by Samvada and is currently working at Samvada’s Kalaburagi Youth Resource Centre as a youth mentor.
