Dr. Jogan Shankar has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University. He worked as a professor of Sociology at the Mangalore University for 15 years and retired in 2016. During his tenure, he has guided a number of PhD students and has over 75 publications to his credit.
Dr. Jogan has also served as the founder co-ordinator of Vimochana, a voluntary organization which focuses on rehabilitating Devadasi women and their children. His work for the upliftment of women and children coming from marginalized communities has been recognized and awarded both at the state and national level, alongside other accolades received in recognition for his work and contribution to education.
