"After marriage, my life was just cooking and looking after my three children and relatives"
Meghana’s prospects seemed bleak. When her father died, she became very disturbed and depressed. In 2014, through SAKHI, an NGO that works closely with Samvada, she learned of a new kind of course about women’s lives. She grabbed the opportunity and enrolled in the Facilitating Women’s Wellness and Justice certificate course. Through the course, Meghana learnt to deal with her own problems and also started speaking to other women in distress.
She has now set up Chaitanya Trust in Hospet and works in high schools and colleges offering counselling, career guidance, sexual health awareness and safety awareness. Empowered and equipped with valuable skills, she created an independent and meaningful career path for herself. She is now very happy, helping others heal and grow. She is even thinking of starting her own pre-school, after learning more about Early Childhood Education.
